Coffee as a Secret Ingredient

For those of you who are adventurous cooks, coffee can be a great secret ingredient in recipes. It can be used in many main dishes. It can add color and improve the flavor of gravies, soups, chili, roasts, meatballs and pasta sauces. It gives each dish a rich flavor which will not be detected as coffee. Also, the flavors of beef, poultry, and lamb can all be improved with the addition of a little brewed coffee. If you have left over coffee that still is fresh, make some ice cubes to add to recipes or use when you want iced coffee. If you empty the ice cube trays into a ziplock bag they will stay fresh for a long time.
