I have an I roast roaster for something over a year. Some months ago the unit began working erratically with the readoutm disapearing and heating stopping after several momnents. I have sent numerous e mails and placed calls trying to get some information and assistance, but never received any reply to my mail. Only once, sfter waiting for 20 minutes did I get an operator. I explained the problem and was promised a call back which never came. This has been going on for over 3 months. This is the worst service I have ever seen
Since I am located outside the US there is no local service, the unit was bought directly from Hearthware.
My e mail address is shmaryal@gmail.com telephone
Maybe you can elicit some response from them Thank you

Can anyone let me know what would be an ideal roaster for the home. My husband wanted this machine but it seems too large for the kitchen and is more expensive than I thought. (He has expensive taste) I'm looking for something that would be smaller and compact and more affordable.

I used to get Smiles Coffee and enjoyed it tremendously. If I remember correctly I roasted it in the package on full power for about 12 to 15 seconds. I wish I could find more coffee like this. I stopped my subscription because of a deployment to Kosovo and when I went to start it back up they were out of business

If you cook, try adding leftover coffee instead of water to provide moisture for a roast, or make gravy- you can't taste the coffee per se, but it adds complexity to the flavor of the dish.

The machine is over priced and if you are forced to purchase their green beans also then I absolutely would not purchase their machine. You can purchase green beans elsewhere for half the price you would at SonoFresco - plus last I heard they make you sign an exclusive agreement and there is NO WAY I'd ever sign an exclusive or ask anyone to sign an exclusive in this business. I sell both green and roasted beans here in North America... and I export green beans out of South America to ports all over the world... Dios con Bendiga y Chao

Coffee can only be grown outdoors from the Tropic of Capricorn to the Tropic of Cancer. Most of the U.S. is too far north to grow coffee except Hawaii. You might be able to grow it in a green house if you control the amount of light it gets. Besides warmth, it also has to do with the amount of daylight and dark in the tropics.

I've been roasting over 3 years now. First year, I used a couple of hot air popcorn poppers. I roasted outside inthe dead of winter. Of course, it took longer. Then, I bought a Cafe' Rosta air roaster. Just roasted the first time last night with my new Hot Top drum roaster. The bottom line is that roasting causes smoke. Roasting for espresso (darker) roast causes even more smoke. I've set off my smoke detector roaster inside when I didn't use my range hood that is vented outside. I've also roasted in my garage. I've heard that the Zach & Dani's Gourmet Coffee Roaster has a catalytic converter that allows you to roast inside without smoke. But, for that reason it can't do darker roasts at all. One thing for sure, once you taste fresh roasted coffee, nothing else is as good! Mark
